Pink & Purple Overload!!!

When we moved here YEARS ago.....this was planned to be a guest room with a lighthouse theme.  After a year it became a boy nursery with a lighthouse theme.  The following year it became a girl nursery still with the lighthouses.  Well, we've added pink/purple decorations over the years, but that good ole lighthouse border stayed.  Sunday night, I decided it was time to tackle the project I've been putting off.  Tearing down that border.  You see, we had promised one little 4 year old that for her birthday we'd paint her room in the colors of her choice.  Early Monday morning, we piled in the car to buy paint and wallpaper remover.  After looking at many shades it was decided (by Callie) that the walls would be Tickled Pink & Windsor Purple.  Can I just say that I nearly died when I brushed on the first stroke of that pink paint.  I ran for the paint chip card thinking surely the store made a mistake.  Nope, it was EXACTLY the shade of the card.  Now that is finished it has grown on me.  I think I'm beginning to like this pink and purple madness!!!  Callie for sure LOVES her new room.....SOoooooooo, without further ado....I give you BEFORE and AFTER pictures of Callie's room transformation.

Her dresser piled sky-high with things.  And just take a look at that PILE of stuffed animals.
 The AFTER pictures
The dresser is just a little less filled up now.:)
I love her pink/purple robe.  I cut this out of a ladies size and made it kid's sized for her.
Laundry basket, hairbows, and check out the greatly decreased pile of stuffed animals/dolls now.
I just LOVE this picture.  Seth painstakingly drew and colored this picture as a gift to Callie.  He did a fantastic job!!
She's starting her purse collection young!!
Very happy in her new room.
A few more pictures she wanted me to take!!

Thanks for looking!  :)

Personalized Pillow

Found an idea online to make personalized pillows. (scroll down below the picture for the link)Thought I'd sew one up to go along with the quilt I made for a baby shower gift. It was fun and easy to make! I plan on making these for each of my kids for Christmas gifts this year! Funny thing is I showed it to Duane and he was like...."who is Scott?" We have a bunch of 's' boys in our house, but no Scott! :) I'm thinking when I get around to doing my poor daughter's name, I'll be wishing I had named her something with fewer letters. Can you imagine how big her pillow will be with 11 letters on it!!!!! It will probably stretch across the entire width of her queen-sized bed! lol :-)

Here is the link for making the pillows if you're interested in making some of your own. I did not purchase the e-book, just watch the freebie video on making them, found some free printable letters online (a coloring book) and saved my money!

Question: How does one go about renaming links to a different word, phrase, etc.....?

A Baby Shower Gift

Thought I would share the gift I made today for a new baby in our church. A couple of neat things about this quilt are the fact that the animal print fabric is leftover from some sewing that I did for Carrie's 1st baby. That was 11 years ago! And, the red fabric came all the way from South America!!!! I won it in a sewing blog contest I entered! Pretty neat. The other fabric is leftover from other things I have made! It was fun gift to make. Hope the new mommy likes it!

Simon's Surprise for Mommy

Simon, my 8-year old, went on a field trip. When I picked him up at school, he said he had a surprise for me.
Here is the pretty box my surprise was in.
Upon opening the box, I found two wrapped objects nestled inside.
Carefully unwrapping.....
A beautiful swan purchased for me by Simon.
Simon said he named my gift. I asked what its name was. He replies, "The Swan"! I thought it was so sweet of Simon to use his money to buy his mommy a gift. He told me all he had to pay for it was $3.50! It was the last one of its kind in the store. His teacher told him he got a steal! He is growing up into a sweet a thoughtful boy. :)
